Flo Rida feels a lot like Tom Brady or Eli Manning right about now. The rapper’s No. 3-peaking single “Good Feeling” is about to become even more ubiquitous after it’s featured in a commercial for Budweiser, titled “Eternal Optimism.” The song is juxtaposed against The Cult’s “She Sells Sanctuary” to demonstrate how Budweiser has spanned time and culture throughout its history – apparently just enough to make Flo Rida one happy rapper.
“I was in the studio last night recording when I got a chance to see the commercial,” the rapper tells Billboard.biz. “It was almost like I’m playing in the Super Bowl because I’m getting a big payday as well. I was like, ‘You know what, I didn’t think about this, I’m like one of the players on the field getting paid.’”
Of course, Flo Rida is just one of many folks getting paid off “Good Feeling,” which notably samples Avicii’s “Levels,” which also samples Etta James’ “Something’s Got A Hold On Me.” The song is James’ first-ever top 10 hit, as her signature song “At Last” only peaked at No. 47 and other songs charted slightly higher. Of the blues legend, Flo Rida said he was in the studio when he learned of her recent death. “I saw an e-mail and was like, ‘Oh my God.’ She’s been a super contribution to this record,” he says. “When I first heard the sample, I said ‘Oh man I gotta do this it’s gonna be a classic rendition for the trio alone. Avicii is number one, Dr. Luke on the production and things like that and Etta James on the vocal.”
James and Avicii are just two of the guests on Flo Rida’s third album, “Only One Rida (Part Two),” tentatively set to arrive in March. Among other artists set to appear, Flo Rida confirmed LMFAO, Lil Wayne and Pleasure P, as well as Australian singer Sia who handles hook duties on second single “Wild Ones” (which re-entered the Hot 100 this week at No. 100.) Of the latter, Flo says he was first introduced by his A&R rep during a chance shared studio session. “It was amazing just to hear her voice,” he says. “I thought she was just another writer and everything, but when I got a chance to get information on her and everything I found out she was a huge artist overseas. Now my social circle goes crazy when they hear that song, I’m definitely happy.”
Though his team – the Miami Dolphins – didn’t make it this year, Flo Rida will nevertheless be flying out to Indianapolis this weekend to catch the game in person, where his “Run To You” songmates LMFAO will be performing alongside Madonna. “Those guys are very humble. I got a chance to do shows with them early on. They were working hard and to see them have such a massive hit [with 'Party Rock Anthem'] is great. They have great energy and are just some nice and humble guys.”

April 2009 – Dragon Licks worked with the Ralph Lauren production team to identify artists that would best represent the Ralph Lauren brand through a series of web films that will be featured on the RL global website. The film features Axaquira – “El Poeta”, Esmerine – “Why She Swallows Bullets and Stones”/”Red Fire Farm”, and Bonobo – “Sleepy Seven” . The Dragon Licks team worked with the bands to edit and sweeten their tracks to fit the film perfectly. The goal was to make the music work with the picture in a cinematic way….the result is a web film that has a feature twist.
November 2008 – Dragon Licks collaborated with TwentyFour Productions in Belgium to license the classic Christmas tune “Let it Snow” for the Carrefour 2008/2009 holiday campaign. The film spotlights the magic of the holidays and how Carrefour has everything you will need at your home for the season. It will warm your heart!
